Sri Soekarmoen McCarthy
I fancy myself as a photographer and have been taking photos of everything - buildings, people, flowers, wildlife, and barns old - ugly barns. “There is no such thing as ugly,” my father used to say, “change your lens and you'll see something beautiful.” On July 2, 2014, I took a watercolor lesson and I have been painting ever since. Photography has taught me to see objects in many different angles. Painting has taught me to see mistakes as opportunity, to take more chances and to poke fun at myself. It allows me to say “It’s OK to make mistakes.” I don’t have a message behind my painting. I am quite content with the joy of creating a painting.
