Grand Valley Artists is planning to put together a series of note card packages to sell at our various events and to our own members to help offset the loss of revenue from the cancellation of Reeds Lake and our sketch sessions. These cards will be "all occasion" cards, blank inside, so suitable for birthdays, anniversaries, or just a friendly "hello." For our first collection of cards, a jury of board members will choose images from our GVA Artists Hunkering DOWN and MAKING ART! albums on Facebook, and we will ask each artist's permission to use your work prior to printing.
If your image is chosen for printing and you have given us permission to use your image, you will receive credit on the back of the card as the artist. Paintings, photos, prints, color, black & white...anything 2D will be considered. See below to learn more about how to post images for those who are not yet participating in the Facebook experience.
The size of the finished note cards will be 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". Your art does not have to be exactly those dimensions when reduced, but it would need to be rectangular, not square. The image can be horizontal or vertical. Every card will have a white border. Each set will have 10 assorted cards. The price of the set is yet to be determined. And wouldn't it be fun to see YOUR work on some of them!
If you have questions, please feel free to contact Joanne Swann at email@example.com. For now, just load up that art on Facebook!
PS GVA will also be donating a portion of the proceeds to Feeding America or Children's Food Basket.
Facebook does not need to be intimidating. You can become a Facebook user even if you have no intention of using it for anything else other than participating in our GVA pages. You will need to create an account by signing up on Facebook using your own name so we will know who you are and allow you to belong to our pages. When you have created your basic page set up, you will need to do a search at the top of the Home Page to find our GVA pages. We currently have three different pages you will want to find: 1)Grand Valley Artists (page), 2)Grand Valley Artists (group), and 3)GVA Artists Hunkering DOWN and MAKING ART! (group). You will need to ask for permission to join the group pages by clicking on "Ask to Join" (or something along those lines), and we will allow you "in" shortly. When you have been given permission, you will then be able to add photos of your work to the pages, comment on other people's contributions, etc. You can also navigate your way to the Photos (left column) and the Albums (a link on the Photos page). Lordy...this sounds much more complicated than it is! Please feel free to contact Mary Marin (616-443-0362) and I will be happy to talk you through it! I'm available from 7 a.m. till about 7 p.m. most days, but don't tell anybody.
